Welcome

My name is Yash Harkara. I am an undergraduate student with great aspirations to enter the field of medicine, in particular oncology. I hope that as you read through my blog, you get to know me a bit better, and discover the potential I have to be an astounding medical professional.

What is oncology?

Though defined as the study of tumors in relation to cancer, the term oncology has a deeper meaning to me. In my eyes, this term is definitive of opportunity. It is an opportunity for change, an opportunity for knowledge, and despite all the adversity that it presents,  oncology is an opportunity for a better understanding of human life. Though there is much known about it, there is so much more to discover, and as an aspiring oncologist, I will unearth the mysteries this field of study holds.

The Purpose

I started this blog as part of a program known as ISM at Liberty High School. ISM stands for Independent Study and Mentorship, and it allows students to research a particular occupation of their choosing, and then benefit from the experience of a mentor in the field. After graduating from high school,  I am continuing to use this platform to display my strides in the field of oncology, as well as my personal developments. I hope that in reading this, people are better able to understand my passion as well as my personality, and discover how I plan to change medicine, and hopefully the world.
